Not to start. Episode 1 of every Standard Candy Shorts series plays with no account, and episode 2 unlocks once you sign up free with an email. Free users also get a few messages with Candy's AI characters. Money enters at episode 3, where locked episodes begin to cost tokens, and at episode 1 of any Spicy series: Candy flags 19 of its 211 series that way, and none of them has a free episode.

- Monthly suits finishing one or two series and leaving. The first month costs $9.99, then $13.99 a month, and you can stop after any month.
- 3 months at $8.99 a month fits a season of steady viewing without a year-long bill.
- 12 months gives the lowest rate, $3.99 a month, but you pay $47.88 up front. It pays off if you also use Candy's chat and image tools, which run on the same Premium.
Upgrades and downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle, not on the day you switch.
Candy AI tokens: what they are and how Candy Shorts spends them
Tokens are Candy's in-app currency. Premium adds 100 a month (the terms say “generally” that amount, confirmed at checkout), and they pay for extras such as image generation, voice notes and locked Candy Shorts episodes. Text chat itself is unlimited on Premium.

A Standard title like Couples Therapy With Margot Vey therefore costs far fewer tokens to finish than a creator series such as My Stepmom Mia Malkova Needs a Date. For Spicy titles like Blackout at My Yacht Party, the per-episode prices we list come from secondary sources, pending a signed-in check.
Three rules from the terms matter. Tokens cannot be transferred, traded or swapped for money. Unused tokens expire when the subscription ends and never carry over to a new one. And Candy also sells tokens outside the subscription, refundable only while unused. Every series page on this site lists its own token total.
How to cancel your Candy AI subscription and stop auto-renewal
You cancel from inside your account, at any time, and Premium stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Log in on candy.ai and open My Profile, then Settings. Your plan type, start date and end date are listed there.
- Choose Unsubscribe. This switches off auto-renewal, so Candy will not charge you for the next period.
- Keep using Premium until the paid period ends; after that the account reverts to the free version.
Two details catch people out. Tokens left in the account expire when the period ends, so spend them first. And plans renew automatically for the same price and term, with any price increase announced before the renewal. Cancel a few days ahead of the renewal date rather than on it, especially on the yearly plan, where a missed date means another $47.88 charge.

Refunds are narrow. Under Candy's terms, for users outside the EU and UK:
- You must ask within 24 hours of the payment; after that, no refund.
- Even inside that window, a subscription refund is refused once you have used more than twenty tokens.
- Only card payments can be refunded, and technical problems on your side do not qualify.
- Separately bought tokens follow the same 24-hour window and are refunded only if unused.
EU and UK residents fall under a separate section: they can withdraw within 14 days of the first purchase, minus a share for the service already used, by emailing support@candymail.ai. It does not apply to renewals. Any refund or chargeback cancels the plan immediately and removes the remaining tokens.

Candy AI promo codes and trials: what actually exists
The genuine discounts are the ones on the plans themselves: Candy's subscription page shows a percentage off every plan, deepest on the 12-month term, and those banners shift with each sale. We found no free trial on that page or in the terms, and no public promo code. The terms do allow occasional promotions for selected users, such as bonus tokens, but those are Candy's call, not something a coupon site can hand out. Is the Candy AI price worth paying? For a viewer who knows what they want, $3.99 a month on the yearly plan is a low price for an adult subscription, and the two free episodes of every Standard series let you judge before paying. The catch is that the real cost comes in two layers: the plan, then tokens for each locked episode. A short Standard series fits inside the monthly 100 with room to spare; a string of creator series, or Spicy titles such as Riley Reid's Forbidden Stepdaddy, drains it much faster.
What we like: one tier, clear plan lengths, cancelling in a couple of clicks, and a plain note on the subscription page about the statement name. What we like less: unless you live in the EU or UK, a refund must be requested within one day, and unused tokens vanish when a plan ends.
